How Will My Health Improve After Quitting Smoke?
67I believe that many of us who have been to clinics or hospitals will notice that there are many health related posters and notices pasted or hanged on the walls. Do you really go and read them while waiting for doctor consultation? Well, I do read them while waiting sometimes.
Last week, I brought my father to visit a doctor nearby our house. While we were waiting, there was a poster that caught my attention. This poster was provided by Action on Smoking and Health (ASH), a campaigning public health charity that works to eliminate the harm caused by tobacco. Its title was "How will my health improve after quitting smoke". Initially, I just remembered the ASH's website address so that I can look for the same information online later and share it with my friends for educational purpose. But, I went back to the clinic again eventually and copied the poster information because I couldn't find the same information through the ASH's website.
Here is the poster information about:
"How Will My Health Improve After Quitting Smoke?
First 8 Hours - Nicotine and carbon monoxide levels in the blood reduce by half and the oxygen levels in the blood return to normal. Blood circulation improves.
First 24 Hours - Carbon monoxide and nicotine is eliminated from the body.
2 Days - The ability to taste and smell improves.
1 Month - Smoking damages the skin and causes premature age aging. After quitting smoking, the skin loses it greyish pallor and becomes less wrinkled.
3 To 9 Months - Coughing and wheezing declines.
1 Year - The risk of a heart attack decreases by half compared to that of a smoker.
10 Years - The risk of a lung cancer decreases by half compared to that of a smoker.
15 Years - The risk of heart attack decreases to the same as someone who has never smoked."
This poster info helps us to understand how smoking can affect our health no matter we are smoker or not. It tells us that nicotine and carbon monoxide can influence smokers' health, causing damages to their blood circulation, skin, heart and lung. Also, it indicates that a smoker's risks of getting heart and lung diseases will increase over time compared to that of a non-smoker.

Money & Smoking
I understand that quitting smoke is not easy especially for those who smoke for so many years or smoke addicts. It is almost impossible for them just to quit smoking overnight. However, being free from smoking habit becomes possible if they have the desire to quit smoking and start taking action to do it. There are always many stop smoking aids available for those who want to be smoke free such as nicotine impregnate patch or gum, pills, injection and herbal cigarettes. Or one can even stop smoking naturally through hypnosis. No matter which treatment they choose, I hope it can help.
Here you may find exciting videos about smoking for your viewing pleasure.

Hi JohnKhoo,
How many years did you smoke?
I found it very hard to give the habit up. I came across a product that has helped me almost quit. The product is not promoted for a way to quit BUT has helped me stop smoking tobacco cigarettes AND has helped me break many habits I had while I was smoking tobacco cigarettes.
I purchased an electronic cigarette and it helped me not smoke tobacco cigarettes. Over time I realized my need to grab the electronic cigarette has decreased and do see myself eventually ridding the habit once and for all.

There are so many different companies making electronic cigarettes. If not purchasing the electronic cigarette from the link above is not for you, I suggest searching for another brand because the electronic cigarette has helped me. Good Luck everyone.

Good info on what to expect when quitting. The body is very resilient. Despite all the discussion of nicotine being addictive the fact people can go back after 5-years underlies the concern this is not truly the deciding factor.
It's the habit rather than the addiction that is toughest to break. But with the poster information you provided put up in a prominent place - say the kitchen - than it can be a forceful reminder to somebody just how far they have come and what they will give up if they go back.
Thanks for lens.
i am on the second week o my e giggie and havent smoked since, i smoked thirty a day and tried everything but nothing worked, this product is brilliant, you get the kick at the back of your throat, you blow out what looks like smoke, and its legal indoors, whats not to like, would recommend to anyone
Hello, I smoked for 13 years and quit at the age of 24. Like many young people when I was a teenager it seemed like the cool thing to do. Quiting was the smartest thing I ever done for my health, being active in sports and daily life, smoking took so much away from my life and pocket. My taste, smell, mood and overall wellbeing has never been better. Everyone is different and has their own way to handle it but for me I found that quiting was only as hard as I imagined it to be. Everyone out there can do it, prepare yourself mentally because the physical part is easy! Get your life back!
I quit smoking 12 days ago and have noticed that I am feeling so much better for it. No more heartburn at night. Food taste better and smells better. I went onto a new drug called Champix which is helping, better than the gum.

I never smoked. But my wife has quit twice. The first time was when she was pregnant. She just stopped. I think she chewed gum a lot though. She then started smoking again after. But soon after quit again and hasn't smoked in over 5 years. She seems to have more energy since. She used to need a lot more sleep.
